Bottle of Torres Natureo wine

Torres Natureo (£6.75, City Beverage Company, 020-7729 2111; £7.99, Partridges, 020-7730 0651; £6.99, Highbury Vintners, 020-7226 1347; £5.99, Zelas Wines, 020-8347 9006; Soho Wines, 020-7636 8490).

I'm not giving up booze this January, but I will be cutting down a touch. With this in mind, I might well stock up on a few bottles of Miguel Torres's latest, brilliant creation.

I tasted Natureo in September, with the great man himself, at his restaurant. I was amazed at the depth of flavour and length of fruit on the palate – bearing in mind that it is only half a percent in alcohol.

Made from moscatel grapes, the wine is put through a 'rotating cone column'. This spins the majority of the alcohol out of it without losing too much in the way of aroma and flavour.

With green apple and grape notes and a juicy texture, this is a very authentic wine-shaped bevvie. Better yet, not only will it allow you to avoid boozing, but also a load of calories, too.

A normal glass of wine packs in around 90 calories – Natureo has only 20. I can see this drink being a massive hit at summer parties and also a crucial part of the driver's armoury. Wishing you a Happy and Healthy New Year – at least for one week anyway!
