Discover Ibiza's softer side

The Can Curreu hotel: peaceful haven in the north of Ibiza
You don't have to be a party animal to enjoy Ibiza. Head to the north of the island and you'll find holidays to suit those searching for tranquility.
Best for a romantic break
Couples looking for a quiet, sun-soaked holiday should head to Can Curreu, says The Daily Telegraph. This ten-room hotel "wraps all five senses in a blanket of Ibiza sensuality". It's set just a half-hour's drive from Ibiza town among rolling olive groves and there are gorgeous beaches a short journey away.
The hotel's style is "elegantly rustic" with "low-beamed ceilings, terracotta tiles and crisp white linens". If you tire of lying by the pool listening to the birdsong, you can charter the hotel's private boat for a cruise, or go horse riding. The restaurant is run by one of the best chefs in Ibiza, and if you so choose you can work off everything you eat in the hotel gym. But why bother when you could just sit on your private terrace sipping champagne and taking in the aromas of pine, rose, fig and lavender that rise from the gardens?
• Rooms cost from €220 on a B&B basis. Visit www.cancurreu.com or call 00 34 9713 35280 for more details.
Best for families
Few children wouldn't get excited about the idea of a holiday on a farm. And if you make for the Vinya D'en Palerm, just outside San Miguel, the children can enjoy all the fun of the farm while you relax by the pool snacking on fruit from the orchard.
The "five light and airy rooms are set in old farmhouse areas, including the grain store", says The Independent. There are both cattle and crops and guests are welcome to help out whenever they want. A visit in September to help pick grapes can be fun, but avoid October, unless you have a strong stomach. That's when the matanzas – the slaughtering of cattle – takes place.
• Doubles cost from €140 (including breakfast.) See www.vinyadenpalerm.com or call 00 971 334 909.
