Porsche 911 cabrio

You need to be paying attention to stay abreast of the ever-expanding 911 range, says Jeremy Clarkson in The Sunday Times. But fundamentally each model is designed to be better to drive than anything else for the money. So why cut the roof off the Porsche 911 Turbo? Surely the result will be a heavier, more wobbly car? This truism about cabrios just "isn't true any more". A Ferrari F430 Spider is "just as fast and feelsome round a track as the Berlinetta. And so it goes with the 911."

It is one of the stiffest convertibles in the world, agrees Chris Thorp in AutoExpress. And the performance is stunning. "In low gears, the Porsche surges forward with real pace, and without a roof, the sensation of speed is even more pronounced." It goes from 0-62mph in four seconds, and onto a top speed of 192mph. The price is just as "jaw-dropping" – £106,180, £8,340 more than the Turbo coupé. Look beyond the price, though, "and few will be able to question its abilities".
