New to MoneyWeek?
Welcome!
I'm Merryn Somerset Webb, Editor of MoneyWeek - based in London, UK.
Thank you for visiting our site.
Let me briefly introduce ourselves, and explain how to find your way around.
Every day an awful lot is written about finance and investing. Much of it is incredibly boring. Lots more is either meaningless or plain stupid. And most of it is a complete waste of your time.
The important financial stories... and how you can profit from them
Our aim is simple. To give you intelligent and enjoyable (yes, enjoyable!) commentary on the most important financial stories of the week, and tell you how to profit from them.
So how do we do that?
Firstly by talking to thoughtful people who really know their stuff. That means City professionals, fund managers, stockbrokers, industry experts, and the commentators that we respect. We have a wide range of financial professionals who write regularly for us, come to our monthly "Roundtable" discussions, and who contribute their expertise to the ongoing MoneyWeek debates.
Secondly, by reading a huge amount of financial news and commentary every week. That means all the mainstream sources (press, websites and magazines) and many more specialised ones, such as broker reports, newsletters, newswires, trade journals and so on.
And finally, by writing articles that we would want to read ourselves. Which means: intelligent, thought-provoking, practical (as in, advice you can make money from), written in normal English, and entertaining.
Our weekly magazine - which contains lots more than what you can see here on the website - is colourful, opinionated, slightly quirky and, we hope, a very good read. (If you'd like to try out a few issues, with no obligation, click here for a Free Trial).
So that's MoneyWeek... A round-up of the week's most important financial stories. Practical investment advice to help you make money. And all delivered in a way that won't send you to sleep. What more could you want?!
3 ways to discover the hottest investments...
There are three different ways you can read all our commentary,
articles and advice. You can:
- Sign up to our FREE emails: our daily investment email Money Morning, and our weekly personal finance email Money Sense, and
- Read our award-winning weekly magazine.
As I mentioned, there's much more in the magazine that we don't include here on the website.
And you're welcome to try out all three - website (with full access to all articles), email and magazine - absolutely FREE, for the next few weeks.

How to find what you want on this website
If you know which particular investment topic you're interested in, just click on the relevant heading on the navigation bar on the left. That will take you to a full listing of news and articles on that topic, along with a brief introduction and our recommendations of useful 'starter' articles.
Otherwise, just start on our Home page, where we put up our latest articles and the financial news of the day.
(Please note that if you're not a subscriber, you can only view MoneyWeek articles which are more than 2 months old. We reserve our most recent advice for subscribers only - unless you sign up for a Free Trial).
The 'Search' box at the top right of the page is useful if you're looking for a very specific topic or name.
More detailed advice from 2 of our experts...
For additional investment advice, you might like to look at our Shop, where we have a range of useful publications.
And two of our regular expert columnists have recently launched exciting new services, providing specific share tips...
James Ferguson recommends blue-chip companies which he believes the market has seriously undervalued in Model Investor.
And Paul Hill is an expert at picking companies in new, rapidly-growing sectors of the market - and he has a phenomenal track record to prove it. You can find out which shares Paul believes will double in price in Precision Guided Investments.
Finally, if you've got any problems with the website, our Help page will give you the answers or point you in the direction of someone who can help.
I hope you enjoy our website and find it useful. And good luck with your investments!
Best wishes
