Asking prices pick up in 2006
Yet another survey has suggested that the British housing market is beginning to find its feet again after a difficult 2005 with asking prices showing their strongest monthly gain for nearly two years.
Rightmove said average asking prices for British residential properties showed their strongest monthly gain in nearly two years in early 2006, breaking through £200,000 barrier for the first time.
The property website said asking prices rose 2.7% in the early January to mid-February period compared with the previous survey, taking the average UK asking price to £201,600.

Rightmove director Miles Shipside said, "The market's picked up quickly this year. As a result, properties are selling more quickly and stock levels are declining."
The average number of properties on estate agents books remained steadfast at61, said Rightmove, while the amount of time it takes to sell a property sell fell to 81 days from 94.
