Construction orders up 7%

New data from the government has shown UK construction orders increased even further at the end of last year.

The Department of Trade and Industry said construction orders in the three months to December rose 7% from the third quarter and by 12% from the same period a year earlier.

Construction orders for 2005 as a whole rose by 7% compared with a year earlier.

The DTI added that in the fourth quarter there were decreases in private housing, infrastructure and public non-housing orders offset partially by a rise in public housing, private industrial and private commercial orders.
