Moneyextra says house prices steady

Independent financial adviser Moneyextra said today that recent research has shown mortgage advances rising in November with house prices simply holding steady.

The group, part of Chase de Vere Financial, said the average property value searched on its mortgage comparison tool eased down to £208,000, a fall of just £421 on October and down 1.2% from a high of £210,000 set in September.

The average mortgage being sought in November on Moneyextra was £127,962, an increase of 1.2% on the month.

The largest increase was from those looking to move from an existing property where the value of the mortgage being sought rose by £4,000 to £159,000.

The average value of loans completed via Moneyextra Mortgages in November was £140,668, up from £134,909 in October but below levels seen earlier in the year.
