Spectris says orders 'encouraging'
Spectris said orders, excluding currency effects, have been encouraging since the start of the year, with demand in each of the business segments ahead of the prior year period.
Trading has been similarly positive, the precision instrument and controls maker said, adding that it is confident the first half year will show good progress.

"Further out, the global financial situation could have an effect on demand, but the company remains well-positioned, having a broad spread of customers, applications and geographical markets, with the fundamental demand driver being to enhance customers' productivity," said chairman John Poulter.
As previously announced, Poulter has retired as chairman today, with John Hughes taking over as non-executive chairman.
