Southern Cross opens three more care centres
The UK’s largest private healthcare services provider, Southern Cross Healthcare, has opened three new residential care facilities.
The Tor-na-Dee care centre in Aberdeen is a purpose-built home providing care for 74 frail elderly residents, with the capability to house and treat dementia sufferers. It has a separate 16-bed specialist unit for the care and rehabilitation of patients suffering from brain injury.
Southern Cross has also acquired a 32 bed specialist care village in the Newcastle area, providing specialist care to individuals on the Autistic Spectrum and with Asperger's Syndrome.

The group has opened a new 54 bed care centre in Dungannon, Northern Ireland, offering care for the elderly and dementia sufferers.
“These three new openings reflect Southern Cross's strategy of growing our business through a combination of developing new facilities in conjunction with acquiring existing homes,” said John Murphy, group managing director of Southern Cross.
“Demand for care services remains strong across the UK and Southern Cross is increasingly well positioned to meet this growing demand.,” Murphy added.
