Online gambling software provider Playtech saw revenue in April top the monthly average for the first quarter of 2008 by more than 9%.

In today's AGM statement, the high-flying firm, which last week reported a 97% surge in first-quarter revenue to $39m, said it is also well placed to make strategic acquisitions.

The company also expects to sign additional new licensees during the year as momentum from the first quarter continues into the next three month period.

"The group continues to pursue significant business opportunities across all the regulated markets and the board is highly confident regarding the group's trading performance for 2008 and beyond," it said Wednesday.
