The Takeover Panel has set a deadline for bidding rivals Infinis and 3i Infrastructure to reveal whether they intend to bid for Novera Energy.
The two groups must either announce a firm intention to make an offer for Novera or say they do not wish to make an offer by 5pm on 2 June 2008.

Novera said it welcomed the ruling and added that it continues to recommend shareholders take no action at this time.
Both Infinis and 3i have signalled their interest in Novera but have yet to table a formal bid.
