The UK's construction sector grew at its slowest pace since June 2006 in February, according to a report released today.

A survey from the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) showed its monthly purchasing managers index dropped to 52.4 last month from 53.9 in January.

The drop in the sector, which makes up 6% of the economy, was bigger than the slip to 53 analysts had expected.

But despite the decline, a read above 50 still represents growth.
