UK house price growth still slowing
House price growth is still slowing in England and Wales, new figures from the Land Registry show.
The rate of increase in house prices in the year to January fell to 6.4% from 6.7% in December, even as the average house price rose by 0.9% to £186,045.
House price rises in London were almost twice those of the whole country, with the average price rising by 13.1% to £357,976 in January.

While London house prices have historically tracked those of the South East, house price rises in the region were way behind the capital's, averaging 7.8% to £231,958.
Nottingham was the only city or region to experience a fall in the average house price over the year, with the average price dropping by 0.1% to £100,237.
The land registry also issued details of sales volumes in August to November. The average monthly number of sales was 100,648, a drop of 15% from 117,173 in the same period of 2006.
