Sector movers: Autonomy gives sector a boost
Software & Computer Services received a boost form Autonomy after strong fourth quarter sales helped profits at the data retrieval software group.
Full-year revenues rose 37% to $343.4m, while underlying profits rose by 60% to $108.8m. For the last three months, sales rose by 57% to $115.1m with profits up 51% at $41m, slightly ahead of analyst forecasts. Pre-tax profits for the year were $91.4m up from $56.3m.
Personal care and household products firm PZ Cussons said it saw good trading performance in all the three regions of Africa, Asia and Europe in the first half of the year. The news moved the Personal Goods sector higher.
The group said overall performance since the half-year has been in line with management expectations and the outlook for the full year remains positive, despite rising raw material costs and the weak dollar.
Mining stocks were retracing the losses of Monday and spearheaded the risers, while there are no sectors amongst the fallers.
