UK house prices up but London slips
New data from the government has suggested that London house prices slipped in November, although overall British prices grew on the month.
The Land Registry said house prices in England and Wales rose 0.6% in November, taking the year on year increase up 6.8% with an average home now costing £172,006.
"After robust growth in September and October, the November monthly growth rate reflects a calmer market," said the Land Registry in a statement.

The report shows a slight decline in prices in London and the northern regions of Yorkshire and the Humber on the month.
Recent reports have underlined the resilience of the housing market, although the run-up to Christmas sometimes sees a slip in asking prices as sellers look for a quick sale.
